The Egg Donor Recipient Program

Egg donation is the donation of eggs from one woman to another. The donor can be anonymous or, a relative or a friend. The Care Egg Donor Agency (CEDA) has a wide range of donors from all cultures and backgrounds. All egg donors remain anonymous. Egg donors undergo a comprehensive medical screening including a medical evaluation, blood tests for infectious diseases, and a family medical history.

Should you wish to choose an egg donor, a profile of the egg donor including physical traits, hobbies, occupation and lifestyle habits will be provided.

  • Egg Donation

Egg donation is suitable for women who fail to produce eggs, have had cancer treatment, have genetic abnormalities, have had repeated IVF failure using their own eggs and older women have a higher chance of having babies with genetic conditions like Down syndrome.

Egg Donation & Sharing
  • Why use donor eggs?

There may be many reasons why you’re considering using donor eggs. Egg Donation may be an ideal solution for the following reasons:

    • Poor quality of your eggs – it is unlikely to have a successful pregnancy using your eggs.
    • Age-related infertility, premature menopause or ovarian failure rendering you unable to produce eggs.
    • Past medical treatments or surgeries that have caused infertility – If you have had cancer treatment or have had your ovaries removed.
    • Genetically inheritance – if you possess a genetic condition/disease and have a high risk of passing it on to your offspring.
    • Advanced maternal age – women over 35 years of age have an increased risk of transmitting genetic syndromes associated with chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome.
    • If you are same-sex couple interested in having a baby through Surrogacy.
  • Fresh or Frozen?

Both fresh and frozen donor eggs are available and can be used in IVF, and each option has its own set of advantages. Frozen donor eggs offer convenience. Fresh eggs, while previously more common, can involve waiting periods for donor screening and synchronization.
