- COUNSELLING
AT THE C.A.R.E CLINIC
Counselling sessions are
offered at the C.A.R.E Clinic to all patients before during
and after program treatment. Infertility affects relationships
as a whole not only the individual themselves so partners
are encouraged to attend and be involved. These one on
one sessions take place privately, in a comfortable environment
within the clinic. All matters discussed are strictly
confidential and without judgement so patients are free
to express any fears, concerns, belief issues and other
questions. Infertility treatment triggers a wide range
of emotions and relationship issues. Our counselling sisters
are trained to help couples to come to terms in a gentle
compassionate and safe environment. The counselling is
purely voluntary.
Specific Infertility procedures offered need more intensive
counselling due to the implications surrounding the decisions
that have to be made for the treatment schedule.
These include:
- Donation of eggs, sperm and embryos
- Receiving donor eggs, sperm and
embryos
- Surrogacy issues and legal implications
- Pre Genetic Diagnosis information
- PESA/TESE
Holistically, counselling at the C.A.R.E
Clinic aims to make infertility Treatment an easier
road to travel. Dawn and Vanessa our resident counselling
Nursing Sisters are available by appointment Tuesday,
Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Our sisters multitask
and patients form relationships with them from early
stages of counselling through medication, egg recovery,
embryo transfer and pregnancy test and beyond. They
with the whole team understand patient's urgent desire
to hold a baby of their own in their arms and truly
follow the highs and lows with every patient.
Infertility can cause enormous
stress and emotional pain. You may experience conflicting
emotions such as anger, envy, depression and fear. Expressing
painful feelings can help. We have counsellors and patients
who can help. They have been there and are ready to help.
You are not alone. The HFEA (LONDON) requires all couples
donating or receiving gametes to seek counselling.
